A major step forward for housing in Seychelles was taken today with the signing of an agreement between the Government of Seychelles and NBCC (India) Limited for the implementation of the first phase of the Île Aurore Housing Development Project.
Signed at the Office of the Vice President, the agreement paves the way for the construction of 1,008 affordable housing units, together with the supporting roads, utilities and a new sewage treatment plant that will serve the wider Île Aurore area.
The project is funded through a USD 75 million Line of Credit from the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of India and forms part of the development partnership between Seychelles and India announced during President Dr Patrick Herminie's State Visit to India earlier this year.
The first phase, expected to be completed by 2029, will introduce Seychelles' first modern high-rise affordable housing development, offering quality homes for Seychellois families while laying the foundation for the future development of Île Aurore.
